Diy4x shackle flip bolts - torque spec?

technically all fasteners have a torque spec.... that being said, flip to frame bolts I'll apply the German spec, "Gooduntight" :wink1:

DO they really need to be torqued, i mean serrated bolts grab pretty good.

I HAAAAAATE serrated bolt heads. I will NEVER use them. The tear up the powder coat, paint AND steel or aluminum. I ONLY use standard grade 8 with heavy grade washers. There thicker washers. No, not all bolts NEED a torque. But every bolt does have a torque window it can be torqued to.

tighten until it strips, then back off a 1/4 turn :wink1: but really,i would just torque on it until u think its good. use some blue loctite if u feel the need to.

You can take 10 guys and have them tighten a bolt to where they think it's a decent tightness and every single bolt with have a different amount of torque to it. I think in general, the stronger the guy usually the higher the torque will be. AND more then not you might find some guy actually over torque the fastener above what the recommended torque range would be.

If you look at a torque chart, it's not all that high until you get into the larger sized fasteners. For instance, torque say a 3/8's bolt to a recommended torque with a torque wrench, then put a wrench on it to tighten if more as if YOU would just be tightening it by hand till you though it was tight enough. Most guys will continue to rotate the fastener I bet.
