I purchased a Shock Inboard Kit for my '89 Blazer last week. It is a DIY4X Kit (Link: http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?route=product/product&path=24&product_id=118 ). It was purchased but never installed by the PO.

The person I purchased it from stated it was the kit for a Blazer but now that I have it in hand, it looks like the pickup kit. The two outside anchor points are sharply angled up when positioned for installation. Can this kit be fabbed to fit in my Blazer without losing much, or possibly any, support integrity in either the kit or the frame?

If it can, ideas would be appreciated.

I thought about placing the kit mounts so the shocks would be attached on the forward part of the axle (Looking at it from the rear) but the rear seat anchor points plunge to low under the bed of the Blazer for the two outside mounts to fit correctly. It also looks like I might have a problem on the passenger side where the frame angles in just aft of the rear bump stop rivet (which is where it is intended to be installed, I believe). I am not sure but the angle is pretty close to where it is suppose to be mounted. Not sure because I can't get the mount in fully without removing the rivet. I won't remove the rivet until I am sure I can make this fit.

Help is appreciated. Thanks

I'm sure Kert from DIY4X can help clear up these questions right away.
He designed it and he shows 2 different part#'s

Hmm judging by the pics on Kert's site it would take a healthy bit of fab work to turn the pickup version into the blazer version.

It almost fits. It looks like it would be tight against the bed. However, hopefully Kert can provide some insight or possible solutions.

Do you have a lift on the truck? If so, what about installing it upside down? I realise you'd lose some height on the center section but it might make it fit.

What about adding a 1" body lift? Helps a ton in other areas as well.

It isn't worth the effort to try and make the pickup model fit on a blazer. The pickup one is on a different rotation as well.

Frame on the pickup is pretty level where it is intended to be installed where as the blazer the frame is on the downward slope behind the axle location.

Send me your end pieces and I can swap you out for the blazer ones. Either way give me a call and we can discuss the situtation in a little more detail.

I will give you a call tomorrow.

I was liking the one inch body lift idea.

Hey Kert,

I tried calling today but there were problems. The line would ring, once, then go dead. One time it rang through but you could barely hear me even if I talked loud. I got ahold of your 0200 number no problem but she said to call the 2252 and that is where the problem cropped up. Did you happen to have it on call forwarding? Sounded like it the one time I did get through. I will try and call again next week. I will also PM you with my number, maybe that would work. It's up to you, I know you are busy. Thanks.

Sorry about that today. Phones rang pretty much nonstop. I suspect not enough time on the chargers over the course of the day. We'll hook up, not to worry.

Yeah, I got through on Tuesday. It was just one of those busy phone days for Kert last Friday.

Thanks Kert for helping resolve the problem.
