Dizzy rotation...anti-clockwise to retard??

I've gotta back off the timing a little and haven't got a timing tab..its anti-clockwise to back it off? right?

Got to do some towing... its set up a little fine at the moment and will and it will rattle a bit under load. Might add a timing tab when I finish this trip!

Counter clockwise will retard timing.

counter clockwise will advance the timing and clockwise will retard the timing.

Looks like its a 50/50 vote on which way to go...I might take the cap off crank it, then go from there.

Turn the dist. vac advance towards the carb too far and itll kick back trying to fire up and ping. Towards the firewall and it wont ping. Just went through this on mine because my timing tab is not accurate.
 
The rotor turns clockwise when you look at it from the top. Turning the distributor body clockwise retards the timing, counterclockwise advances.
