well guys i have a issue, i pulled my engine to put new heads and intake manifold on and to clean it up so i got a pair of vortec heads for free and i got a edlebrock proformer vortec manifold for a carb but i got everything installed and i also added a pete jackson timing gear drive but now i have the engine installed the dizzy wont drop down all the way, the oil pump is lined up and everything, it just wont go down, there is like 1/4 more clearance till its seated, i pulled the timing cover and moved the cam foward and back to try and see if that worked but nothing, when i had everything out i rebuild the dizzy and pretty sure everything is together right. this is all in a 82 chevy k10 with a crate 350 and HEI dizz. have any idea's guys

It's not engaging the oil pump drive. Remove the dist, look down the hole and see what you need to turn it slightly...could take a bit of trial and error but that's why it won't drop all the way.

Ive rarely seen a dizzy just drop all the way down. When I replaced mine, I had to bump the starter to get it the last 1/4inch, this obviously takes two ppl. One puts pressure on the dizzy and the other person ever so slightly bumps the ignition. I was taught this from an old skool hotrodder and it worked each time.

same drop it where you want it and then bump motor till the oil pump and dist line up then it will drop in all the way
