Do all thermostatic air cleaners have heat tubes?

1977 GMC Jimmy, 400 cid, TH350, NP205. It is listed as 6,200 GVWR, and comes back as HD emissions, which basically means it does not require an EGR or Catalytic Converters, but requires everything else for that year.

It requires a thermostatic air cleaner. It has one in it, but no provision on the exhaust manifold for a heat tube to mount. It DOES have the provision on the cleaner, but I do not think it is the stock cleaner either, so that tells me little. It has a heat riser valve on the passenger side manifold, and AIR tubes.

I really want to get this thing mounted proper before I go in, but there is nowhere for the tube to sit on the manifold heat shield, like I normally see on most vehicles. Is it possible this truck did not have it? Can't find it in the Chilton's anywhere. If so, I would like documentation, or some source, to show my smog guy.

If it did come with one, how can I remedy this? I have been looking for a universal clamp on, or something like it, for two days to no effect. Can't buy the heatshields anywhere either. PNP isn't in my future until it's fixed, because this is my daily driver! Really up a creek here right now!

Thanks for any and all help in advance guys

The part you need is an exhaust manifold upper heat stove # 338471 Classic industries list it for a 69-77 Camaro but its what your looking for. It's cheap too. On the exhaust manifold photo you can see the rivets on the manifold where it would go. Also that is the wrong air cleaner. The original snorkel was round not oval and would have pointed more toward the pass fender. That shouldn't matter to much since you use flex tube connect the air cleaner to the exhaust.

Just wondering ---WTH that electrical switch is for on the frame rail, with the green wires on it???...never seen one before on a GM!..

I saw the heat sheild in an old catalog a friend gave me that specializes in old Nova parts, might have been Classic Industries...they can supply many OEM parts you cant buy at dealers any more...

Pretty sure it's on the AC box, not the framerail. Still think it's aftermarket, doesn't look familiar to me either.

NICE, thanks so much, I'm pretty sure it's a TBI air box but I'm not too worried about that since it still goes to the correct side for me. You have been a HUGE help though, I've been looking for about 4 days and couldn't find this piece, lol

Hey guys, those green wires go to a switch for the A/C that was originally in the truck. It is on the A/C box. Haven't found an A/C delete box yet... Saw one once, and couldn't grab it due to time constraints and having to pull a t-case before closing, after work! lol. Came back the next Friday and it was gone.
