I got the engine the other day, without the computer. Which do I have to use the last vehicle's Vin number for the new computer?

Also this is a 1995 Tbi 454.

It probably doesnt matter. If you know the specs on the donor, then even rockauto will probably have the right ECM/PCM.

Hopefully you know enough specs of the donor to drill down to the right ECM or PCM at someplace like rockauto. If you arent using the same transmission as the donor, but the donor wiring harness, things might get a bit more difficult.

Quick glance of roackauto, LOOKS like for a 1995 C2500 (as an example), there were or are only two options. Again, for THAT vehicle, the only two options that probably mattered were manual or 4L80E, in regards to ECM/PCM. There may then be more PROMs based on trans used, with additional specifics, such as gear ratio, etc. I did check the PROM supplier for autozone, it sure doesnt appear there are many options for the above listed truck. So it may be very simple. Correct ECM or PCM, and matching PROM.

The Engine is a 1995 Tbi 7.4 454 , going in place later for a 1983 Carburated 7.4 454.

Was wondering if the Computer and Chips has to be the same with the same Vin number, from the last vehicle the engine Tbi , came out of.

Also, No 4L80E on the vehicle the engine is going in, just TH400.

Pulling them off an existing truck is the best way, unless you find it in the classifieds or online somewhere. The TBI with the 4L80e was only made a few years
