The heater core is located under the dash inside the plastic housing.

I get that. But does the attached photo have anything that needs to be removed off of it to pull the inside box out? I removed the inner fender and pulled the two bottom nuts off
No need to remove anything under the hood except the heater hoses. You can get to it from the inside of the truck.

I got it out! Now it's time to put it all back together
