Do I need an ignition cylinder lock on the column?

I refurbished my tilt column, and don't have a key to it...I will have a push button starter, with a remote ignition switch, and also a console shifter.

I removed the lock cylinder and the trans selector lever from the column...

I will have a manual remote switch for backup lights.

So I know there is a neutral safety switch on the column, can I just run a jumper bypass wire to get around the column switch, and wire to the shifter switch?

Do I NEED to have the lock cylinder in there for anything else that would keep me from using the steering column?

How about the column lock itself? The one that keeps you from turning the wheel?

thats all he will be missing . and possible flopping around of the old shifter area of the unit.

and yes jumper or run to new shifter the ( n ) part of the switch.

otherwise its just a shaft with a wheel in a fancy body to look nice in the cab.

You will need to remove the lock pin for the steering wheel lock as the lock cylinder is what activates that pin.

thats cool J, I got a pushbutton, with a separate ign. on/off switch.

What about the accessories...fan motor, wiper motor, those kind of things that have to have the key in a acc. or run position to operate. How can I get those to work without the ign switch in the column? Do I need to find each wire supply to those items and make a new wire bypassing the column mounted switch?

Is the switch on the left the one that controls all those items in the acc/run positions?

The factory ignition switch will operate the ACC and the IGN modes. When the switch is in ACC mode, the IGN mode doesn't work, when the switch is in IGN mode, the ACC works and IGN works, when the switch is in start mode, the IGN works, the starter solenoid works, but the ACC is turned off until the switch goes back to IGN then both ACC and IGN work. hth.
