Oil cooler hoses on my CUCV 6.2 are leaking. Can I eliminate the cooler sytem and block off the lines at the engine block?

This is my first diesel, I don't know much about them.

thanks

Very common problem. It's better to fix it by getting replacement hoses. Have a hydro shop make up some. Lots of guys are converting the connectors over to better fittings. Sorry I don't have a link but a search should get results.

Cooling is very important for a diesel so just plugging the lines is not a good idea.

You really should replace/upgrade them.

If you really don't want to do that, you probably shouldn't simply plug the ports. I'll admit not knowing the internal flow path, but you may need to run a short "U" so the oil can still flow as if there were a cooler.

Could you provide a part number for these lines I also need to replace mine!
The dealership said was discontinued??
Napa said the same??

Thanks

GM had them within 6 months ago for my 88 R20. Try a 91 and look at the schematic to see if they look the same. I haven't owned the early type 6.2 but I thought the biggest differences were in the GP system and fuel filter, the oil lines could be the same.
