do i really need the pitman arm on 2.5 sus. lift?

I have a 87 k5.....wanting to know if i need to change the pitman arm on a 2.5 suspension lift?? if i dont change it will the truck still be safe to drive??

Haven't changed mine... I have 2.5 inch Pro comp spring's. Haven't had a problem on or offroad... Also tow a horse trailer.
