the cab seems huge now. eventually I am going to make a custom dash that ties into the cage. I'll mount the gauges to it right behind the wheel. put 2 cupholders in the middle and some type of storage space where the old glovebox used to be.

nah, it's just extra weight. Got any interior pics with it out?

I tried to take some but they don't really show how it looks since the cage is in the way. I basically cut off everything to the right of the gas gauge.

LOL too funny...

Take a pic from a few angles with it out....
Thing always just gets in teh way...

what'd you do about the heater???

what'd you do about the heater???

HUH? there isn't one. I removed all the duct work, controls, everything from the gas gauge over except the firwall. I made a huge patch panel to cover the holes where the heater core and A/C components were.

I'll get some pics up eventually.

I want to do this, I would really appreciate some pictures...:D

How much weight did you shave buy removing it by the way??

And does anyone think a truck would still be street legal without the dash?? I mean I don't have a dash pad, and just have that section pictured, and I passed my safety. So does the rest really matter at all?

I already ripped the heater and a/c and ducting out, so I am half way there... hahaha

Sorry for the questons, I've just been thinking about cutting that out for a while now... I really like taking stuff OFF the truck:D:D

nope, I cut all that out of my 83 and built cage. Two other friends cut out factory dash and build custom setups

Got any pics of these custom dashes? And Chas, I'd like to see what you come up with for your dash. I want to tear mine out some day

I might on my home computer otherwise can take pics next time I'm around their trucks.

Here's a dash idea from travisc454's build thread -

in my old mud bogg truck we took the dash out and made one for switches,a tach, oil, votls and water temp out of 2 valve covers weleded together

So much for winter wheelin'.

What's the point?
Can't save enough weight to make any difference.
