So I installed my old system in my yukon. It was fine for about a week then one day it just went quiet except the subs. I turned it off and back on and after a few minutes it did it again.

I finally figured out that it does it ANYTIME i turn the volume up past 15.

So I bought a new deck cuz I both wanted and needed a newer one.
Yup same damn thing is happening to the new deck.

SO I figure it hs to be a blown speaker or something causing a protection mode of some sort.

I forgot to mention I tried using the fader and balance to listen for a blown speaker but I couldnt hear one with the volume under 15.

The yukon has aftermarket 3 way speakers and stock tweeters in the front doors aftermarket 3 way speakers in the rear doors and stock 6x8's above the back barn doors.

The only other thing I can think is perhaps the ground has come loose on the deck its self?

I can almost guarantee you the rear overhead speakers are shorting out. I replaced tons of them at the dealership. For some reason the way that system is wired with the factory amp when those rears short out it pulls down the entire system. I've even seen them spark from the metal mounting flange on the speaker to the roof metal if you unbolt them while playing. Don't even waste your time replacing them, unbolt them and toss 'em.

I found it was the front driver door speaker had a bare wire toucing the door frame. Now thats fixed everything seams to be fine other than I still need to replace ALL the speakers with some quality versions.

When I do replace those overhead speakers they wll be rewired to an amp and bypass the factory wires. but thanks for the heads up.
