Recently I checkout out an amazing 94 or so gmc 1500 shortbed lowered on cragers, cherry red, gorgeous looking truck, I went to look at it, has a 4.3 and they wanted 7900 :doah:Do people really pay this much for something like that? I could see if it maybe had a built 350 or something, but a stock 4.3? Come on hah..

Saw this tonight...worth 12000? I think not...

I would like to know what people are smoking when they are coming up with these prices, its gotta be some powerfull stuff. lol

but suriosly people want to much for things. saw a truck for sale with a numer 85 1/2 ton nothin specail i called thinking it would be about $1500, i ask what he wants he say $6,000(i took alot to keep from laughing). i asked what makes worth $6,000, the stuff he listed was all stock stuff.
 
Yeah, when I asked, the guy said "it gets up and gos for a 4.3" don't get me wrong 4.3's are ok, but nothing I would pay that much for, he tells me to make him an offer, I told him I wouldn't pay over 3000 for it, he said good luck, and I said good luck getting 7900 for it and walked away hah.
 
i dont think people get it. brand new brakes, engine, rebuilt trans, ect. or it got a plow so it automaticly worth $1500, its still a plow truck. well good for you but your not going to get your money back.
 
I love the Blazer, 12,000 dollars for a basically stock Blazer with a 12 bolt rear running 35's. Oh and it has a 125 hp shot of nitrous, that should help me get through the rocks, or at least shoot the axles out of the housing.
 
That is cheap for toys to some people. Check out the price of a high end sandcar. Some of those Duners have more money then sense. High end sand rails can cost $150,000+. Then add in the cost of the toyhauler & Powerstroke (they all drive 12" lifted powerstrokes :D ) and your up to $250,000 or more.:eek1:

hey maggot how much did you pay for that 4wheeler? prolly coulda bought a small car lol. no but seriously we owna body and mechanic ashop so we see the real side of cars. its really sad to see what people pay for cars and hilarious to see what ppl charge. and 12K doesnt even have great paint com'on
 
People down here think that if it says Chevrolet on it... it's made of gold... man I wish Ford didn't suck so hard... it'd be a lot cheaper hobby.:D
 
Some people really like their vehicles and throw a rediculous price tag on them, then again there is ALWAYS someone out there willing to pay their price for it.

What is a vehicle worth, whatever someone is willing to pay for it regardless of price or real world worth.

I've always tried to figure this one out myself. I mean sure the super high end ones are some serious machines and look beautiful but COME ON 150 grand!!! It's some tube, a motor, trans, shocks, tires/wheels....where do they come up with 150grand. With that math my project must be able to sell for about 80-100,000(I mean I don't have my tube work done yet):haha:
 
one of the problems ive noticed is people are watching these shows where the custom shops pick up a junker out of the yard for 2-3 grand and turn around and build them and auction them off for like $80,000.

there was a guy here in town with a willys pickup, beat up, flat tires, didnt run, smashed glass, and asking $8,000 :eek1:
 
Went to look at an old Scout one time that my buddy said the owner wanted $1500 for. Went over to look at it and it was rough, I mean rough! I looked it over, decided $1500 was a fair price and asked the guy how much he wanted, he said $5K, I almost laughed in his face. I just walked away, no point in bothering!:rolleyes:
 
i looked at a toyota at a cheapo dealership. 84 yota, 4x4, 3" lift, 33" tires, engine had caught on fire and not just a wiring fire but the block was a melted paper weight.

me: "how much for the blue yota?"
dealer: "25"

me: "25 bucks cool ill take it"
dealer: "2,500 bucks"

me: "(laughing) screw that"
dealer: "well this is a short conversation then huh, now get the **** out"

nice huh?
 
my rule of thumb has always been that i never pay more than $2000.00 for a project vehicle. (there are some exceptions) now the 79/89 k5 has bout $8000 in it so far and its only in primer and has needs 1ton rears and some other parts cage etc. so ill have bout $10000.00 in it till i wreck it or something stupid. the 72 K5 im looking to stay under the $10000 but i wana do it nice so ill spend the extra cash if i have too

That is exactly it.

As sellers, we want to get the most out of it (in a perfect world it would be great to get back all you have into it). As buyers, we want the cheapest deal we can get.....let the other guy build it and eat the cost.
 
12K for that 87 is a joke. But I am sure there is someone somewhere stupid enough to pay it.
But
That 73 convertable Blazer is sweet! IMO it is worth every penny of 8K and will prolly go for more by time the bidding is over. Hmmmmmm.........? Somebody stop me please.
