damn thats my dream truck :eek1:

pricy
wouldn't want to hurt it, which is bad

how come step sides are so popular? I liked them back on 50s trucks.

It ain't worth $7,000, paint don't match on the fenders and hood, wrong front bumper or it could actually be a 70's model with a 80's front clip with the 70's bumper due to it looks like it has a d44 in the front.

It's an '87 with a 44/12 bolt. They went to the effort to pull and replace the 10 bolts with a 44/12...why go to that effort and not run at least a 9.5" 14, and why bother pulling a 10 bolt, only to put in a 44?

Not that there's anything wrong with that, it just gets my skepticism for aesthetically-motivated used vehicles going. I guess nothing I own will ever be worth a lot when my mind jumps to the question of "the paint job is worth more in material than the axles?" :D

BTW, your dream truck has a semi-float rear and a drivers-side drag link? Man, you and I are very different people :).

It is a very pretty truck though. Wish I could afford to start with something that clean.

Dual stabilizers  "What are they hiding?"

Also if ya click on the carfax report it says its a r/v20 so it isn't the right cab.

Because it is actually a 70's model frame with a newer cab and front clip.:doah:

It looks like a hack job. It is nice but like mentioned the paint doesn't match and nice electrical tape on the inside door pull. Not worth 17k.

that looks like a 70s shifter too.definitely not an 80's. also it shouldnt have a 205. somthing is fishy. 70's trans crossmember and mounts too.

Haha

Good thing we're not the only market to sell lifted trucks to, or these hack shops would all be out of business.

My brother took me to a Toyota dealership once because he was on the market for a new truck. I was nice to the salesman, but eventually he just admitted he didn't even understand the questions I was asking. I thanked him for being honest. He had tried to say that Toyota was coating their frames with a material similar to asphalt, but said that "the steel has asphalt in it to reduce corrosion, unlike any other manufacturer."

lol...nah I just allways loved lifted stepsides

damn you guys are brutal...I hate to post a pic of my rig

It's not that we're brutal, it's when someone is trying to sell a $5K rig for $18K that we get a little nit picky.

First thing I noticed was the mismatch in paint from cab to front clip. I'm gonna guess the front clip was painted separately, and at a different time than the cab and box.

$18K and they couldn't afford a new armrest/doorpull? How about working AC for $18K?

It's decent, they're just trying for way too much cash for it is all. It's not even a well optioned rig. Single headlights, manual glass etc etc.

I was struggling to understand what you all were talking about. Maybe that's why I'm not into paint jobs, I'm colorblind and never would have picked that up if I were buying the truck.

it's great there is a place like this to come to and in less than an hour and a half get the whole low down on a truck for sale.........most "mechanics" that people go to wouldn't know half this stuff. great job gents :D

In addition to the other mixed/matched parts already noted, it's got the wrong year bed (exposed gas cap, no door) and neither the grille or tailgate have emblems or logos so that $18k truck is loaded with aftermarket (ie; cheap) sheetmetal.

The shade of silver is slightly darker on the front clip is all. I see that sort of thing on 2 out of every 3 cars...'paint matching' is bullsh!t IMO. It never matches 100%.

Some matches are closer than others for sure, but once you see the difference you can't unsee it anymore. We bought an '02 Durango, carfax'd it, spent a lot of time looking it over and it all looked clean and paint original. It got nice and sunny a couple days after we got it home, so I had my polarized sunglasses on and noticed the drivers side doors were slightly different looking. Undeclared damage I guess, but the paint match is good enough that it takes specific lighting to see the color difference.

The pass door on the truck looks like it's been worked over too, and it doesn't line up terribly nice either, at least long the rocker it doesn't.

Drivers door looks better, but the rocker area looks worse.

good point. The quality of workmanship makes a huge difference. It looked nice at first.. But yea, imagine all the work that you could have to make it right.

I'm glad my truck was done well when I had it in the shop. I lucked out with a good quality job on my K5, despite having autobody students learning and practicing on my truck for the first time. It turned out real good.

It's not bad, in fact if it was someone's build here I'd say "Atta boy" and nice truck! Hell, if my upcoming paint job looks that good I'll be ecstatic.

However, when you have the nerve to ask $18K for a square body it better be exceptionally good, as in show quality, well optioned, original, and this truck isn't any of those. It's a mix and match LMC special being mis-represented in order to garner an outlandish sell price.

They did a nice job on the exhaust from what I can see of it. The engine could be great, but from the rest of what I see it could be three rattle cans and a dress up kit...who knows?

And the best part is you don't even get a stereo with that truck. You pay all that money and you don't even get to listen to your favorite tunes on the way home.......for shame. :doah:
