Do we have an opinion on the best fitting headers?

I need a new exhaust setup to go with my motor swap on my 83 K20 with a SBC. The truck is stock except one ton springs. I do not have any emissions worries.

I have read all the posts on this site on which headers fit well and I'm confused.

On my past two trucks the headers have fit horribly. Headman and Hooker sets. It was a major pain getting those to fit well. Lots of heat and leverage.

Is there a good set of headers that more than one person has had good luck with? I'm looking for a full length set, I don't care what type of collector connection.

Any help is appreciated.

i bought these for my 77 K5 and other than needing a starter heat shield they fit like a glove....can be put on with engine bolted in with no problems

Sorry to hijack (and this may be a dumb question), but what's the difference with the "dual air injection" and the "smog air pump" options on the thorley's? Also are we really talking a big enough difference to warrant upwards of 500 to 600 bucks for the thorley's vs. 150 for the flowtech that NewUser mentioned?

I installed a set of Hooker's exactly like these on an '88 K5 with a 350/700R4 and aside from a few stuck manifold bolts they fit perfectly.

just different smog options. I habe no air injection so it looks clean. I think they were made and fit very well. I cant compare tp the others for this is all I got. If you can spend the money great if not Im sure others would be fine. I heard heddman headers were very good and a bit cheaper too.

I have been running the flowtechs for a while and they were working great until I did an engine swap. When I put the new engine in I never could get them to reseal to the heads without leaking, I ended up having to use 2 sets of gaskets and some hi temp silicon befoer they would seal.

My Thorley headers are excellent... except for the rust that's starting to show up after about a year - ceramic coated. I think the stainless would be preferrable.

The fit's good on 'em.
