I grabbed these pics from another forum and absolutely love it...I've always wanted to give the Trxus STS's a try and after seeing this I think I will when it comes time for a new set...

Anyways I was just wondering if any of you had more info. on it...

If I wasn't such a desert rat, I'd have my K5 painted General Lee style with the confederate flag on the tailgate :D

Ok back to topic :D

No info but it is definitely a cool truck

sorry for the double reply... there s an extremely severe thunderstorm and heavy rain on top of me and my laptop is having technical difficulties.. it's acting slow....

I was talking to a guy a couple months back about buying his that didn't have but about 200 miles on them. He said they rode really smooth and were great in sand and pretty good in rocks when aired down. Not so hot in the mud though, which is what I'd need. If he would have ever gotten back to me I would have bought them. Oh well, I'm happy with what I've got now though. :D

Yeah I know the tires are good (for street 95% of the time and the occassional sand) but I was hoping someone had some info. on that truck...I can see it has a 14ff and X-over but thats about it drivetrain wise... I tried to look up the body shop's website (from the sticker on the windshield) but its down...

The bias ply's come in 39.5's or 44's and I don't want to make the 44 jump yet so I'll go with 6" springs and a 4" shackle flip out back...then 8" springs a zero rate and taller spring perches up front to fit the 39.5's...

Oh ok, I took what you were asking a wrong. Sorry, it's been a long night and I can't get out of here soon enough. Judging by the looks of the truck, he has a very similar setup as I do, if not dang near identical because those look like the 44's. I do see a shackle flip with no blocks and the axle looks centered so it's probable there is a zero rate in there. I noticed the crossover steering as well but couldn't make out the knuckles but looks like a D60. Good luck and be sure to post up some pics when you decide to do this. :D

My only experience with Truxus STS's in on Marv Springer's old funbuggy and they SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They wouldn't hook up in the rocks and his 3800lb buggy couldn't get them to squat well and hook up in the sand either.

Im with hossbaby...NEVER have i heard 1 good thing about those tires...EVER

To shiny and nice for my tastes, but to each his own.

How can those tires not be good in the sand??? Did he try to air them down?
I don't know much about sand tires, but they look like they would work to me.

Avery- That guy is from Charleston, SC. I have seen the truck quite a few times. He had it at an offroad show deal a few months back. I am heading down to Charleston to go fishing this weekend. I will ask around and see if I can find out his info. -Eric

Thanks Wforicv...its not terribly important I was just wondering what he ran engine/tranny/transfer case wise...

It looks like a very well built rig though...no blocks all spring lift w/ a shackle flip, x-over steering, 14ff, etc...

Try Googling the name on the windshield banner..... works great.

The truck is probably in SC, since that's where the body shop is located.

Ratzila had some of those tires, 38's or 39's, I can't remember. I will say they act like bald balloons. After using his winch to load a K5 on a trailer, he had to drive up a grassy incline in the rain. Even with 2 lockers spinning on wet grass he didn't tear up my yard. :rotfl:

Yeah I've seen pics and read the story about that...

But for street literally 99.9% of the time and then a trip to the sand maybe once a year I think they would be great on my truck...

As previously mentioned, I ran a set of STS on my 454 powered FunBuggy.

I bought them thinking they would do Ok in the rocks and well in the sand.

They were miserable at both....! :( And I know a good sand tire! I grew up in the dunes. I've run everything from all terrains to Paddles. I ran these tires to single digits on the front while running a set of 16.50 paddles on the rear down in Yuma. They were heavy, too stiff, and had miserable lateral traction..... Don't buy them...

Baja Claws worked much better! Just wanted to turn over more...

Tires, shmires; though I gotta tell you the taillights turned me off.

BUT THE BURNING QUESTION IS...

are the doors welded?

In high school we used to get in out of our cars through the window, demanding we were "doing some Dukes Of Hazzard sh!t."

Now, of course, we're too old to do that kind of thing :haha:
