Today I had to pull the rear axle out of a 1976 K10 I am parting out. I need it for a 1989 K5 that belongs to a buddy of mine. I drove the K10 up to my old man's farm, where I have a couple pickups and some random parts stored behind his machine shed. I was trying to get a 1976 K20 frame off of a set of axles from a 1985 K10 I parted out. When I noticed a set of 1/2 ton axles sitting next to it. I just needed a different axle to bolt under the truck after I took the current axle out of it, so I could drive it home, so it really didn't matter what it was.

So today after work, I pulled out the 12 bolt from under the K10. Then I grabbed the other 1/2 ton axle to install under the truck. I pulled the inspection cover off and cleaned most of the rust out of the carrier and freed up the drums. That is when I started thinking about it. It was a 3.08 geared 12 bolt. I have no idea where it came from. I honestly don't remember parting anything out and keeping that axle??? I might have too many parts. . . . .

Yeah, Yeah, you think you have too many parts now.....Just wait until some of them start falling off.
Then you'll wish you still had them.......

Oh Wait, you meant Truck parts.......................

Never Mind

You think you have too many parts.
Wait till you have 2 houses with 3 car garages each and an RV access each full of parts that you can not access anymore and then you start storing vehicles and parts on your freinds 10 acres, then you start asking people to store parts for you and you keep all the vehicles you have sitting full of parts, then try and remember what you have when someone asks for specific parts to buy, and if you remember you do have them, try remembering where they are, then.... try to get to to them.:eek1:
I have been selling parts and trucks and cars from my collection when I was single 6 years ago, I am down one house now but I still can't stick a finger in my garage and I have to climb over cars to get to the right car in my RV access.
It's a desease I contrapted in my youth growing up in a war and learned to keep everything I laid my hands on, in case I needed it later.
Even if it's broken, it CAN be fixed was the MOTO.
:doah:

Yeah, I have an old milk barn filling up with stuff on the farm where I live, and a bunch of stuff at my old man's farm. The stuff I had at other people's places is all pretty much gone.

In finding those some rare pickup truck accessories in order to compensate all the things that you might have, you have to really see if where they came from at all in the first place. In this way, things could have been very much good in order to see what you really purchased on it.

Umm, what?

That is serious "Has anyone really been far as decided to use even go want to do look more like?" territory.

Every one of the guy's posts is rambling incoherent mumblings not necessarily pertaining to the subject and often vaguely referencing aftermarket parts, makers, or retailers.

The Watson computer has escaped from the Jeopardy set and is now posting in internet message forums.....

He's still a little "rough" sounding, but he'll get better with time.

I agree with this guy.:haha:

I have a whole drawer full of used automotive bolts and other hardware. Sometimes I wonder how many of those should be on one of my vehicles today.

I've got my Grandfather's OOOOOOLD SnapOn rolling tool box. By old I mean vintage old. Has an entire drawer full of hardware and stuff. I'm amazed how many times I've pulled a random bolt, nut, part, thingy, whatzit, or whatever out of it and had it be perfect for my needs. I'm slowly contributing to it though. I like the thought that my vehicles might have parts on them (even just one nut) that came off of Grandpa's cars in the 40's and on.
