Do you think my air compressor motor is shot?

Well I just wanted to update this thread with the final outcome.

I replaced the starter capacitor and it works! Runs just like it always has. I’m glad I didn’t have to replace the motor...

Told you so! Glad you got it running. just don't celebrate too soon, if something external damaged the cap then the problem could come back again.... but i hope it doesnt.

How much did cap cost you?

Cap was about $25 online.

it sat for about 2 years and I’m not sure if that caused it or what. It definitely leaked out stuff from it... hopefully it’ll last

Caps will burst whether the machine is used or not. Most common to burst are caps from 2000-2010's, there was a "capacitor plague" where worldwide electrolyte was garbage and all capacitors from that time frame will swell and pop. not sure how old your machine is...

i had no idea about that. My compressor was made in march 2012 if I remember correctly.

Yeah that's definitely capacitor plague era. Its crazy that machines from the 80s and 90s are running fine on their original capacitors, it's the Caps from the 2000s that swell, pop, leak...
