OK, let's say I find a 4BT that I can afford. Would the Dodge bellhousing and NV4500 (or 3500) have any problems fitting in a K5? Also, would my np208 bolt up to the NV4500? This seems like the best way to go. I've found rebuilt 45's on E-Gay for around a grand and bells for less than $100, fitment would be my only concern. Any opinions?

BTW, I have 2 sm465's, could they bolt to the dodge 4500 bell since GM and Dodge used the same tranny?

Thanks.

the input shafts for the front of the nv4500s are also different between cheyv and dodge engines.

The NV4500 with the larger input is the HD version. Plenty of the Dodge versions came with the same 1 1/8" 10 spline input as the GM versions. A 208 should bolt right up, as long as it was also a Dodge 29 spline input in the 208.

I thought most of those 4BT's came in the P30 van's? From what I've read they often came with an SM465...I'm guessing they just used an oddball bell for that?

Yea. There was an adapter to fit to the chevy bell. I figured there would be more Dodge bells/trans available at the junkyards which would make finding parts much easier.

I am waiting on a confirmation from a member here, but I think I have a bell for the SM465 that will bolt to a Cummins.

The dodge Nv4500 will fit the K5 ,The 208 will bolt up dodge had 29 ,Gm had 32 so one or the other they can be changed.
The Gm Nv4500 has to be 96 or new to bolt up to the dodge bellhousing.and you'll need to unbolt the input shaft and bolt up a dodge .

The 465 won't bolt up to the Nv4500 bellhousing,It will require the P-30 adapter to use the 465.
