my friends looking to get a '03 2500 or 3500 cummins, its gonna be single wheel 6speed manual if it matters, my question is, what axles do they come with?, i cant find any info on them, only what ratios the axles can have.:doah:

I'm pretty sure the available ratios would have been 3.73 & 4.10. By 03 I think 3.54's were gone. Fwiw, my 06 6spd was only available with 3.73's.

Nope, Chrysler is slowly edging out of doing business with Dana.

AAM Co used to be GM's axle division but was separated off sometime in the 90's I beleive. They've been making GM's axles forever.

mmm, the more you know....thanks! now i get to go confuse him:wink1:

mmm,not good old Dana?..or are they dana's? i actually never heard of them now,..their site is pretty cool though...maybe they make dana?

AAM is also making the axles for GM's HD line. The 11.5" rear under a Dodge Cummins is nearly the same axle that is in a Duramaxipad GM truck.

I too was a little bummed to see Dana dissapear, mainly due because the 3.54's were gone and AAM offered 3.73's as their tallest ratio.

Strength wise, the good 'ol D60/70/80 Combo is about the same strength as the new AAM stuff.

i was kind of happy knowing when he got it, i could at least no the axles and help him out...no more Dana...now we're both going to be learning:rolleyes:

I think there is a ratio higher than 3.73 actually...just for kicks I was building a Ram 2500 on Dodge's site a while back and I noticed you were kinda forced into a 3.xx ratio if you chose the stick...even with a PowerWagon.

damn...that kinda sucks, but im guessing u can put in taller ratios yourself, right?

the overdrive on the latest mercedes 6 speed is not enough to allow for the 4.10 gears. My 05 with this trans and the 3.73's spins the cummins at 2000 RPM while doing 65.

Yep, provided you know how to set gears. Irregardless it can be changed. Just kinda sucks.
