I got my dodge d60f installed but im having trouble with the yoke and front driveshaft. Theres no tabs to capture the end of the ujoint and with the straps all the way tight i can still slide the joint around. Its very close to tight but not. What am i missing?

You may have the wrong u-joint or your yoke has the tabs broken out.

You need to measure the width and cup diameter of both your yoke and joint to identify what you have vs need, you may be able to find a conversion joint that fits both sides. Worst case you may need to buy a yoke.

They should both be 1310s. Theres no room for there to be tabs

I've got the yoke on my Dodge Dane 60, still on it, bone stock. I already have a new 1410 yoke to replace it with. If you want the original, it's yours for shipping.
Not gonna beat that deal.

I might take you up on that. I have a trip next thursday and need to get this fixed This is bone stock out of a 92 dodge and everything should fit from what i have read. Theres zero play when the straps are tight but i can slide a cap in and out with a little effort

That’s an oooolllld yoke from like a 70s divorced 205 era dodge. Was this ever in an older truck? Either way, get that yoke and swap it out.

I’ve known 2 guys with 70’s Dodge D60’s that had yokes for joints that were smaller than 1310, iirc one of them was a factory 4.88 combo.

Not sure i bought the front and rear from a guy that was parting out a 92.

Do i have to worry about bearing preload or a crush sleave?

Dodge 60 yokes should be 7260/7290 series u joints, they are smaller than a 1310. The dodge joint has internal c clips that keep it in place, not tabs. If you do t want to swap yokes a 7260 to 1310 combo joint will work.

The inside clips are the key on these, similar to a 3R ujoint on a lot of the newer front and rear shafts. And a 1410 is likely a good way to go regardless of price on a dodge since they have a few degrees less pinion up angle compared to the knuckles VS. a GM D60. Basically, when your castor angle is good, that pinion is going to be really low and the extra angularity that a 1410 usually offers will be good to have. Strength wise, a 1350 will deal with it all day long and really, but the angle on the 1410 is nice.
