*Figured out the answer, see post #6*

So I thought I was cruising along with my crossover upgrade and about run to the parts store to get a new wheel seal and spindle hub seal when the guys at napa told me they had TWO spindle hub seals listed, an inner and an outer.

Now, the inner seal looked exactly like the one I know I need to replace that sits at the back of the spindle by the thrust washer so I definitely need to get that.

The outer seal didn't look like anything that came off when I diassembled it so I am really confused about what it goes to. Before I buy anything or before I put this thing back together wrong can anyone tell me what the outer spindle hub seal is and where it goes if I need it?

Thanks,
John

By "inner" they probably mean the seal and torrington bearing inside the spindle. The "outer" is probably the seal on the back side of the hub. The outside of the hub and spindle is sealed by the lockout/slug whatever you got there.

Ok, that is what I was thinking. I couldn't tell if there was an actual seal by that bearing but it makes sense there would be.

On my ten bolt I have a bigger bearing seal, a spacer and an inner smaller seal. Just on the inside of the spindle

So those are all on the inside of the needle bearing? IE it goes, Big Seal, spacer, small seal, bearing?

When I pulled mine apart I had big seal, bronze washer, bearing and I didn't notice anything else but that doesn't mean I wasn't missing something.

Ok, just to clarify, I took everything apart last night and this is what they are:

Outer Seal - Small seal that goes in front (towards the outside of the hub) of the needle bearing in the spindle hub

Inner Seal - Larger seal with strange lip that goes on the inside lip of the axle shaft and the back of the spindle hub seals to it.
