My shift column is getting a little sloppy between "D" and "2", and I was thinking about a floor shifter. I have "searched" for the past two hours and only found one pic. I would like to see what they look like with and without twin stick t-cases if anybody has pics. Thanks.

Try searching "Art Carr" they have what seem to be the most popular shifters, I'm a stick shift guy so I can't help with pics :D.

old console with Art Carr, no twinstick...

new console, waiting on cable operated twin stick...

why not get new bushings? a lot cheaper and I dont like floor shifters they take up more room

Other than aesthetics, what benefit does putting the shifter on the floor have? In regards to an automatic, I kind of prefer the column shift.

performance...

try shifting a column shifter hard up thru the gears... guaranteed to be accidentally hitting neutral or reverse..

no NEED for a manual valve body to shift an auto... manual just REQUIRES you to shift... I'm doing a reverse manual vb in mine, to put 1st and reverse next to each other...

people are lazy these days I guess... any vehicle I ever owned that was slightly modded, hotrodded, etc got a good amount of manual shifting of the auto...

sure, the corolla, prelude ya run to work, ya let the trans do the work... but all the Cuda's, Chevelles, Challengers, etc I've ever owned with auto's, got manually shifted a good amount..

certainly not race only... ya don't even have to shift ALL the gears.. ya can throw it to second, to hold second till you want third..

and wheeling, the floor shifter certainly makes going from reverse to forward much more "positive" then a column shifter..

this is why I laugh when people say "why the f*ck would you need a tach with an auto?!?!?" while not as potentially "vital" as with a manual, performance auto's can benefit from a tach just as much.. they both have shift points......

rant off.... :haha:

If you cross up your axles hard enough you cant shift because of linkage binding up.

I'll admit to being kinda lazy except for my commuter, which is a 5 speed :haha:

My truck is a street queen/getting into the woods vehicle, not really a hard core wheeler. I do shift it when out in the hills to have the best gear, but on the street I'll leave it in 3rd... it's not like a 6000+ pound Suburban is going anywhere fast. :D

for the record, that was an "in general" kinda statement/rant/diatribe.... :wink1:

similar to my POR15 rants.... :haha:

eh, POR's a good product alot of the time, it's just not the miracle everyone is mislead to believe it is thru internet hype..

Okay first of all thanks for the input, second...sorry to cause a rant making thread, third...it is NOT hard to install this style of shifter, fourth...yes if the rig gets all twisted up the linkage can bind, and finally...I have always owned stick shift vehicles and out of habit that is where I want to put my hand to "GO". I was just trying to get some pics for ideas, thanks. Also the blazer has a front bench seat, I suppose this COULD cause more of a pain installing one, but I don't really think so.
