Does anyone know FORD 460\'s ? PLEASE HELP..............
I know, easy boys /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
Here is the deal, I use a 1989 Ford E-350 4x4 van to pull my Blazer and I need to replace the timing chain gaskets. While I'm doing this I figured I might as well throw a new water pump on and change the timing chain.
The question is, I heard that if I use a pre-1971 460 chain it will advance the cam timing 8 deg. and give the motor alot more power & torque because after 1971, as we all know, motors all lost power and the easiest way Ford could meet the new lame standards was to retard the cam timing and kill the performance. If anyone has done this or knows about it, I would REALLY appreciate some input.
I hate to do it twice. Also keep in mind that I do not need an emissions test here or inspection at all.
Thanks, Dave /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
(I hate to go get flamed by the Ford guys) /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif
