I was wondering if anyone is making a seal that goes in the end of the axle tube so gear lube wont leak out into the hub I checked mine and there is .120 clearance between the axel and the Id of the outer axel tube. I would love to be able to seal it up.

Gear oil lubricates the hub. If gear oil doesn't leak into the hub then you will fry your bearings.

There is an axle seal on the inside of the hub that seals the hub from outside contaminates. Looking at your other thread I would say that is what you need to replace to reseal your axle. If that is wallowded out where a normal seal won't seal anymore I believe they make a speedysleeve for it.

So yopu dont grease pack your bearings, just let the gear lub lubricrate the bearings???????

That is correct. The hub bearings receive their lube from the differential oil.

so should i jack the truck up and let some lube run into each hub and the refill the pig????

Have you cleaned the bearings out since you had that mess in your diff? If not then you will probably want to pull the hubs and clean the bearings out. If you have done that then you can jack one side up then the other side to get lube to flow to the bearings, and then top off the diff.

I personally just fill the diff and call it good when I do mine and have never had a problem. The axleshafts help the lube flow down the tubes to the bearings when they start moving.

It does not hurt to grease the bearings when reassembling. The oil will clear the grease out, but the grease will provide a lot of protection until the oil get's warm and out to the bearings.
