It never fails when we go wheeling, someone in the group doesn't have a CB and I end up with a walkie talking bouncing around in my cab all day. I took one to the face on a bad hop last trip, and I'm done with the stupid things.

Does anyone make a box style FRS radio that mounts and has a true mic like a CB?

I seem to recall seeing one about 5years ago some where in a catalog. I think it may have been Sportsman guide catalog. www.sportsmanguide.com .No guarentees but you could try there. If not hit up Radio Shack.

I it technically illegal but if you dont mind spending a little money you can get a ham radio and Modify it to operate on CB, FRS and GMRS frequencies. Some are really easy to modify and you should do your homework 1st.

i remember see'n somewhere that they make a cb now thats all in the mic, no box...may want to look into that

My roommate has one, they're cumbersome if you have fat fingers.

Bump for whoever, still haven't found anything. I could mount a walkie somewhere, but it's still quiet, battery powered, and doesn't have a dedicated mic.

That one I posted has an optional accessory mic that could be used. They are also pretty loud, since that is designed for marine use.
