looking to get my OD working properly w/o changing gearing--current set up is 1990 sub 700r4 342 gears-33in tires--OD shifts in and out on highway on slightest inclines or even strong headwinds-maybe the tranny can be tricked w/new vss or drac inputs? or does it not work that way? thanks-Rob

Might affect lock up, but shift points are mechanical.

3.42 is a pretty tall gear for that set up.

What they said. Keep it in D until you are going high speed on flat ground over 55mph. Then shift into OD.

I know!

i know the gearing could be better-i just cant find some inexpensive 373 or 411-and i do have to keep dropping into D on highway ,just trying to find a cheaper ,quicker way:rolleyes: Thanks

That's the only way.

If you're confident enough to regear it, I can find some 4.10s for you.
They're freakin everywhere on this side of the country.
If you're willing to pay shipping, and whatever the junkyard charges.
I'd ship em to you.

that could be doable!

-I would def try a used set,I think if i got a used set w/pionion bearing still on it,i could probably get away with a small install kit-Ive studied the procedure and seen many videos, aside from a inch pound torque wrench, and backlash tool,i should be good to go- im not trying to be cheap----for me to do it just needs to be low cost-i already cant justify [money ,gas , time] keeping it.....but i love this thing--if you can put a number together for me,[bone yard+shipping01841+case of beer!:D] i will take a serious look at it,and let you know. Thanks, Rob

When the speedo is off because of a gear or tire change it only effects the trans TCC lock up speed in ECM. It can be reprogrammed, or change jumpers in DRAC.

Without corrected DRAC it also effects Cruise Control, Speedometer and ABS...
