Does my TBI gas tank care where I put it?

What if I were to mount a stock TBI gas tank from my '89 C1500 in the bed of the truck, would it still operate properly? Doesn't lose it's prime?

With the pump in the tank it won't make any difference. External pumps have to have the tank higher than the pump.
