Does this look like a 60???

Buddy is looking for a HP60 for an SAS in his 97, (my old truck) found this on Craiglist, but the pics suck and can't get a good view of the front end. The one pic sorta looks like the 60 hub/lockout, but can't tell....

here is the link...

Cant tell from the pics but either way its an 8 lug, bolt in high pinion axle. At least it would get him rollin.

From what information I have gathered, it most likely has a D44 front with a D60 rear. This information was taken off of a couple of Ford sights, so I am not positive on this answer, just passing on the info.

I called the guy about it, and he has no clue what I was talking about. I asked him how big the lockouts were, and he said they were huge, the same size as the rear. So, going by that, I would say it's a 60. Buddy and I are going in a couple days to get it. :)

And far as HP44s go, just found another one in a yard here. So far that makes about 5-6 that I can get, probly more if I can remember where I saw them.....

If it has the factory plow option it should have a D60 front.

For some reason the name "Snowfighter" package sticks out in my mind, I think it was a 78-79 deal in the F250's. My brother's got a set sitting under the car port (and the TH400/32 spline 203/ Ford 205 doubler setup, just doesn't have a Blazer for it anymore :doah: ).

just for the fact that it has that plow makes it worth checking out for sure...like others mentioned, the "snowfighter" f250s and all f350s were d60 fronts for those years, and there was no DRW fords those years either.

In my Dana HP60 searches I have found that if they have extended cabs they have 60's if not they usually not, unless its some weird option like the snow one so good luck either way and for $650 cant really go wrong

Hoping it's a 60 for my buddy's sake, cause if it's a 44 then we aren't getting it. We can find all kinds of 44s, so not gonna spend $500 on one when we can get one for probly $100.

since the guy selling can take pics why not ask him to get you a pic of the front axle. see if he'll snap a pic of the knuckle or the diff cover. tell him you want to see the steering, anything that will get you the info you are looking for.

Hmm, not a bad idea. I'll give him a call and see if he can snap some pics of the front....
