usually the bolts go up from the bottom though, but that way would make more sense incase the nuts back off, you don't lose the bolts as easy.
 
That's a habit I picked up from working on aircraft: Whenever possible, put the head up or facing forward.

Just in case....:D
 
On my suburban, the round spacers are underneath the frame.

But who knows....mine could be installed wrong?
 
That is how they come from the factory, iirc the Rough Country lift has you put them between the crossmember and the frame. This drops the tcase to help with drive shaft problems.

and help break the frame at the mount holes. DONT DO THIS.
 
I didn't know that. Thank you Sweetk30, now i'm gonna change mine. When I bought my blazer the bolts weren't tight and there was no spacers at all anywhere.

Been there, done that. If someone needs to drop the t-case, they need to use square stock for a spacer or you will kill the frame like I did.

Mine were also underneath.. some here said either way is good, but I don't know. I know every 80's rig I've seen has had it that way, unless it looked like some had the trany out at one time or another.

Here's how mine look.. the only time the trany was out was at the dealership in 1998.. it got a crate 4l80e at the time due to a recall issue that killed the original at 56k :D

Ya the reason I was wondering about this was because when I bought this jimmy the PO had the spacers underneath the frame but above the mount. (To lower the TC) which resulted in a nasty crack and a chunk of frame missing.
 
Yep chaddy, thats exactly what i meant haha. Makes me wonder why they would put that in the instructions to do it that way. Looks like i will be going to buy some square stock like you said to prevent this from happening.

I'm glad i joined this site. It has saved me some headaces in just the few months ive been here.
 
Same reason that Rough Country tells you to install 3 degree shims to alleviate front driveshaft issues. Sure creates vague steering
