Its an '87 so it should be FI too! standard cab c30 dually...I e-mailed him to see if its currently running and if its a sb350 or a bb454...this might be hard to pass up...

http://fresno.craigslist.org/car/349227407.html

Anything in particular different on the first year for FI that I should know about?

??? you mean it still runs multiple belts? I'm ok with not having the serpentine setup.... or did I miss what you were saying?

haha I just got why people were PM'ing me...yeah I know its a 2wd, sorry about that I'm just so used to typing K in front of everything.

2wd is what I was looking for; dd/tow rig :)

man the bed is probably worth what he is asking... i say get, throw a dually bed on and tow w/ it...

:eek1: Have you seen the price of gas????

Beside with they way you are building your rig its not extactly a take to the trails and beat the snot out of it rig. I would dd what you got and drive ti to the trails....

If your looking for a dd thats just nuts:crazy:

well I get about 6-7mpg right now so it can't really get much worse than that...

Its not that I'm looking for a dd, that would just be a nice truck to drive for the summer while I'm tearing mine down (I guess I forgot to mention that I was re-working the suspension and steering on my truck this summer now that I'm out of school).

Plus I could throw mine on the trailer and drive it over to Pismo a bunch this summer to get the bugs worked out. ;)

Looks good to me! I have an 87 Jimmy, it's EFI with V (multiple) belts. Looking at the photos, that looks like a heck of a truck for $1000! I dunno about DD duty for it but, I DD my tow rig so, I guess it's not all bad. Is the truck a standard longbed in length, or is it one of those extended frame chassis cabs? If it's normal 8 foot bed length, it really wouldnt be half bad as a DD, just gotta pick wide parking spaces for that dually! I'd probably be tempted to throw a regular dually bed on it, looks like it could make a real sharp looking truck!:D

yeah I think so too...

parking isn't that big of a deal, I park out in the back of most parking lots with my truck anyways ;)

I think as soon as this guy gets me some contact info. (I e-mailed him) I'm going to go take a look at it.

Hmmmmm.........This would be my first warning sign.................................
This is a real work horse. It was used to pull construction trailers and has a heavy duty lumber rack
Translation: It has been trashed by all my laborers but They only hot rodded it when the trailers were light and the bed was full of concrete.. But after a few can of white spray paint it looks good enough to get 1K for. Dont mind the smoke it will pass smog no problem. Altho it will not pass a gas station.

haha yeah I know what you mean and I read that a few times...but thats the beauty of it all, I can swing by and check it out to see for myself. :)

aHa...the plot thickens....

I sent that e-mail earlier asking about some details and all I got back was, "its a GMC High Sierra 3500, etc, etc."

BUT...the e-mail address was from a lady (not going to give her name but it was a lady)...now please don't take this the wrong way b/c we have some cool ladies around here but I'm thinking it might be a settlement/divorce/etc. situation b/c its not common that a lady is selling a truck like this and doesn't know anything about it other than what the registration says except when she just inherits it and wants to get rid of it....

so this could be good...I'm getting her address and I'm going to go check it out, I'll keep you all posted!

Avery,

Even for the price, I wouldn't do it. I have driven these types of vehicles, and seen the way others drive them. It may appear to be solid, but if it could talk, it would tell you it has been beat half to death. The guys that use these tend to overload them heavily, and run them like they are unloaded race cars. Don't be afraid to look at it, but go over every square inch of it. Ask lots of questions, if she can't answer them, pass on it. There are plenty of vehicles that can be used for what you want, but if you buy it, you may find the money you are spending on it will kill what you have for your other project. Just my opinion mind you, so take it for what it's worth.

use that 1k to get closer to finishing your truck ;)

^^ what he said. For that and the additional insurance/registration/crap that will break down on the tow rig you could go a long way on yours.
