Wheeled pretty hard last weekend but drove home fine (60 miles). Went to lunch a few miles away today, first time driving the truck since. Fine on the way up, on the way back a few 100 yards from the house all of a sudden the truck locked up, felt like someone slammed on the e brake. got out and checked and everything looked ok, fired up and drove fine till I turned into the driveway, locked up again. This is what I saw when I got out, wtf?

Wheel bearings or hub blew up. I've had that happen a couple times. Once the hub was only hanging on by the brake line attached to the caliper.at least you made it home to fix it. Mine happened 200 miles away. Had to buy parts and the tools to fix it.

Bearings either died, or the hub nuts backed off and bearings still died. If you got lucky, the spindle and nuts are not torn up and you can just replace the bearings, and the rear seal on the hub, and maybe have to do a bit of brake work and it will be ok. Deff check the other side while its apart.

Yeah but why the front? I was in 2wd with hubs unlocked. D60 with a grizz locker. How would the truck lockup?

It's possible the hubs were engaging the axle stub and the bearings were lodging themselves against the hub body. Only way to know is when you tear it apart.

OUCH!!! That one of my biggest fears with my trucks is the front wheel bearings locking up.

Yeah I've never had anything like this happen before. At least it didn't happen way out in the desert, was supposed to be out wheelin today.

That could have been extremely bad at 60mph on the highway!

No doubt! There was no warning either, no sounds (at least that I could hear) or anything, just blam. Think those water crossings last weekend were the final nail in the coffin for them bearings...

That's gonna cost ya. Looks like water in the grease. Definitely good to check them after water crossings or lots of mud. That's ugly. Mine when it went out broke the hub in half and I lost the whole end with hub locks and all. Brake line on caliper is the only reason my hub stayed on the spindle.

That's going to be an expesive fix, looks like the bearing hub, locking hub, spindle, stub shaft, lock nuts and bearings & seal.

makes me want to do a service on my 60.. I hope you can get it fixed with out spending a fortune.

I'm going to estimate the carnage as, spindle, stub axle, wheel bearings, spindle nuts, grease seal, wheel hub, and brake pads.
