dome light keeps blowing

Hey all, my M1009 hasnt had a working dome light since i bought it a few weeks ago. it didnt bother me but i figured id go ahead and put a new bulb in for the hell of it today. pulled the old one out, it was an 1156, so i bought another one and put it in, switched it on.... and instantly blew the new bulb. i put a voltmeter on the terminals in the connector and im getting 24 volts. im guessing this is a side effect of the military conversion.

so the question is, if the 1156 isnt the right bulb, which bulb should i be putting in this dome light?

try a 1003 bulb..

Some dome lights use a #1003 bulb--has two tits on the bottom and is different than other bulbs like an 1157...power and ground go thru the contacts on the bottom,the outer shell doesn't ground it like most other bulbs..
