Off topic, but I came home today to this in the neighbors yard...a Red Tail Hawk eating a fat squirrel...I ran in and grabbed my camera and got 3 quick shots before the flash spooked him...he flew off carrying the whole carcass...

Hawks are making a comeback...and while somewhat rare to see in a suburb I have never seen one this close-up:

Took this at Pismo! He or She attacked the Seagull in midair and had dinner next to my camp.

now thats cool.

today I watched as a flock of birds flew out of here...heading south.

Pretty damn cool this time of year

Nice pictures.

Quick add some garage tech to this! What size were the TSLs on the hawks truck when you scared him and he drove away?

all I know is that he drove a K5.....and yelled something about an angry mallard....

Ive got a couple Red Tails in my back yard... many summers ago I was rolling some wheels out of my back yard -

When one of them swooped down and yanked a squirrel from the trees. He was struggling to get airborne and lightened his load. Was pretty cool to watch this plop down about 15" from me -

Wow!!! Amazing!!!! I see quite a few hawks here in Dallas, and I live basically downtown ....

Used to do some pheasant hunting in my youger days. From time to time you'd find the pheasants would get up and fly well before you were in shooting range. Usually when it was nicer weather.

A call that made a hawk screech was the answer. If the pheasants heard that, the last place they wanted to be was in the air.

We have a good population of red tailed Hawks here in the San Diego suburbs. My sister just moved to Mo. and was suprised to have Golden eagles perched in he trees around the house. Think that would be cool as well. Great shots by the way!

about an angry mallard....

I resemble that remark.... :doah:

surprisingly we still have a fair amount of hawks here in Joysey... occasionally see em over the marina too... hopefully killing some of the flying rats, umm gulls... :haha:
