Door debacle

Ok, I'm sure that this has been talked about on here (at least once), but I couldn't really find much through a search so I decided to start a new thread. Anyways, I have a 72 K5 that is in need of some new doors. Mine have the usual rust at the lower seams, but are also fatigued where the hinges attach and just need to be replaced. I am not having any luck finding halfway decent used OEM doors, and have heard horror stories of people getting aftermarkets and finding that they won't fit. I'd like to get a pair of doors pretty soon and would really appreciate any feedback on this topic. Also, if anyone has a set of good doors they'd be willing to part with I am probably interested! BTW, I live in Hawaii and shipping can be an issue at times (let alone trying to find anything out here). Thanks in advance!

Not sure about Hawaii, but I can usually find truck doors that can be modified for a blazer the same way the factory did.

Any C/K series truck of that era should work.

Yeah, that's what I've been looking for. I actually went to look at a set yesterday but everything I've found so far is in worse shape than mine are. I might just end up having to fix them. We'll see I guess. Got a few things to change before I get to the doors like getting rid of a body lift and adding more suspension, so maybe by then I can find some. Thanks for the suggestion though.

save your old doors and look at the cuts the factory made under the caps. And transfer the cuts to the pickup doors...this is in the factory build book also.

I bought a set of the reproduction doors from Tri-Pro and they fit fine.

Of course I also cut off the entire wind wing area and removed the top 3 inches across the top too... it wouldn't really have mattered to me how poorly they fit because I will just make the adjustments until they do.

I was in the same boat as you... I didn't want to waste a lot of time repairing a rusty door, and really nice used ones don't seem to exist. Either way I guess you'll be spending some time and money.

I guess my biggest obstacle that I should have mentioned is that I don't know jack about bodywork, nor do I know how to weld. So I'm going to have to pay someone to do it for me unfortunately. There is only one body class offered college level out here and you have to take a full year before any hands-on, so screw that.... Thanks for the replies though, I'm sure I'll find a set. I need to get it sitting the way I want it before the doors get touched anyway.
