door glass regulator Q

do the teeth on the regulator assemblies point up or down ? i need to figure up which reg is for what side, have pair laying here from a 78, and what is the big diff between 77-up and 73-76 regs ? any at all??

the 73-76 regulators have shorter crank handle shafts, I'm not sure the length, the 77-up crank handle shafts are right at 3 inches from the base to the end

and the teeth face up I think, I Can't remember for sure
