Door Handle Rod

So just how do you get the rod to stay in the hole on the door handle? Mine came out, so I took the door panel off. I stuck it back in and it didn't look like it would stay, so I tried bending the little arm on the back of the handle up with a screwdriver. It broke instead of bending, so I went I found a new handle. It doesn't want to stay in that one either. It's like I need a cotter pin or something, but there's no hole.

IIRC there's a little groove around the end of that rod and a little C-clip thing slides on there and keeps in place.

Ahh. I see the groove now. I've got some fast weld epoxy at the shop. I'm thinking a dab around the tip of that rod ought to fix things.
