The crank for the window, got it. Sounds like you got the metal semi "U" shaped clip off? Once you do that, it SHOULD come off. You may need to use a little force (don't break the handle) but with some effort it should just come off.

Don't believe the trucks ever used a screw in the center like some cars did, but my experience is with '81+.

there may be a screw in the window crank under the little cap. i can't remember it's been so long

Yeah i took it off all right. I snapped teh handle clean off. It was cemented on???? What the heck, is this normal?

probably but it just sucks that i broke it off, anyone got one laying around, or do you think that different years will fit it?

Yeah it would but we have a few part trucks laying around so hopfully i can get thouse ones off.

Update on door knobs

Ok so i have the door knob off and it was cemented on so i see why now, the pin that cranks the window up and down that the knob is connected to was stripped bald. so what have you all done to fix this problem, HELP???

Mine is a switch with 4 wires on it what is this knob you are speaking of:haha: .

J/K I think you have to find a doner truck and get the regulator and shaft out of it or maybe a pic-n-pull.

Dik

manual regulators are not very expensive thru LMC....

not too hard... biggest PITA is getting the glass in and out of the track without breaking it.

actually... removing the regulator assembly from the door can be fun too.... it has to be in the right position to come out of the hole

Start on the donor truck: remove the door panel, then remove the vent window (3 screws on top, 2 bolts down low, 1 screw just below the window) then you can get the main piece of glass out, finally pull out the regulator. Then repeat with main truck, then reinstall in reverse order.
