door lock problem (I searched)

Since you've got the door panel off already, can you unbolt the locking mechanism (3 phillips head screws) and pull it out to inspect?

With the window up, maybe have to pull the lock solenoid out too (no biggie) but I would think the lock mechanism would fit past the window tracks. Only way you are going to be able to see that whole piece.

IIRC, there is just one little piece of metal that the key moves one way or another to let the whole mechanism operate.

Dang, didn't really consider it wouldn't open. :p:

Yeah, the 3 screws are in the door jamb area, have to be removed from there.

I have no idea how you are going to get to it besides sticking your hand in the door and trying to manipulate stuff, but if vise grips aren't helping, I don't know as your hand will do much.

If your door panel is off, is is faily simple to disconnect the actuator from the lock. Disconnect them and then see if is the actuator or the lock.

Patience. When I get my rig back from the tranny shop tomorrow, I will pull the panel and we can go through it together if you have not got it done by then. If you want, you can pm me your number and best times to call. I think you are 2 hours ahead of me.

that would be GREAT. I'll PM you my number right now. You around this weekend? I'd like to get this take care of this weekend so I can get the interior installed etc etc. I'd like to get this 8month long project finished.
THANK YOU for your offer. I'd like to talk if you have the time. Thanks again.

Mine has a similar issue........if the doors are locked and you pull the inside handle the locks will jam. You cannot unlock them. What works everytime on mine is to push the outside button/latch and then it lets you unlock the door.......don't know why, but it always works. I haven't bothered trying to fix it because it's a trail only rig and I don't run doors in the summer anyway.

It is FIXED. stopped by my mechanic's today and we ended up having to move the exterior door handle about 1/4inch down and now it works. Took us about 3 hours and we switched out the whole lock assembly with one out of my old door. Anyway. problem solved!!! Now I can get on with my instal of the interior.!!!!!!!!111

I had this problem w/ my manual door locks...turns out it was the outer door handle, where the rod goes in was too high. It was binding when locked and closed. A trip to Chevy and a new set of outter door handles fixed it.
