what do you run? I have the stock doors right now and am thinking about cutting them. considering tube doors, but like the sheet metal to keep some mud and water out. post pics of anything you have that is different from stock.

right now Ive got stock doors but as soon as I get my new body Im gonna build some removable hinge pins and kick em off when it s not cold or rainy.

ive just got stock doors which are infected with some rust and dents, but another set of doors are on the way. once i have the new doors on, im going to cut the current doors into half doors.

Ronnie, how do you like the "depth" of your cut? Is it low enough or would you want them cut lower?

i really enjoyed wheeling with these:

I'm probably going to make some sort of vinyl snap cover for them so I can run them on the street here without getting pulled over. Around here I've already been told point blank the tube doors as they are aren't legal.

It is weird when they're lower, but you can only lean out a bit when they're about the level of the stock window, or even the body line.

I put mine about level with the (stock bucket) seats, and while they seem low when you're driving (expecially on the street), they aren't low enough that I can lean out and see much of the front tire contact, at least without taking my feet off the pedals.

Two side notes: while I'm 6'1", the wheels do have some crazy backspacing, so they're in tight.

Not a bad idea, I like your thinking here.

full doors 99% of the time. doorless every now and then. i used the stock hinge-pins, though, instead of replacements, like the writeup on this site shows. only tool i used was a dremel.

has anyone here made half-doors without welding a piece of metal onto the top of the cut doors? bolt it on instead? some other option? i don't weld or know anyone who does much.

if there is one thing you should learn thats it, how to weld, then go buy a welder so you wont have to do things half way or rely on anyone to do what you want to do.

yes you could make a cap and pop rivit it on.

I love the half doors, think I'm gonna dimple diy all of the inside of the door to shed more weight and add more strength.

They wern''t too hard to make, plus the doors were free.

I like leaving the doors at home. After the first trip sans doors I went home and added the door bars (as seen in the picture) and feel much safer. A little bit of a pain to get in and out, but well worth it.
