My 73 Burb tow rig door piller repair and other fun

I just picked up a fairly solid 73 :burb: 2x4 for a tow rig

The biggest prob with it is that the bottom part of the drivers side door piller is GONE!!!! and the door dont shut worth a crap.

Was looking in LMC and no replacement part was found.

I am fairly handy at :hack: :weld: :grind: but I want what to know what to do and what has others has done in the past.

All I need are some good ideas before I dive into this project

Also while I am at it I am going to fix the rockers with a full length (both doors) rocker panel.

Do the LMC panals fit the way they are subpose to with out a bunch of headachs.

I am just asking a bunch of ??? to try to avoid the mastakes of others

Any and all help will be welcome and if there has been a write up on this befor please direct away

The OEM style rocker I purchased for my pick-up...
had some of the pillar included in the stamping..

Unfortunately for you...this is a k5 or p/u rocker...
I don't know of any after-market companies reproducing sub/crew cab rockers...GM is it.

I'm pretty sure the GM rockers include the front pillar.

You could always section a p/u rocker in there to save cash.
At $10-15 ea...it may be worth trying.

Onr other thing that I thought of is to cut that section out of a doner truck, do you think it would be the same between a 73 and 87 truck

Sure that will work...
It just takes time to clean-up the spot welds...

I have the most recent LMC catlog and it has nothing for that spot, not sure what I am going to do to this truck the more I dig into it the more issues I find :(

I was able to tear into it today, for what I see now it is not as bad as I thought it would be. Going to order a full length rocker this week and give it a try. here are some pics of the progress so far

Got some more done on it today, the ft rocker fit rill good just needed to trim off some extra steel. The rear rocker fits like total crap, it will ba a total nightmare to make it fit right. I have pics to see how well they look and fit.

Got the doors on now, they are on but I found out thad I suck at alining doors and fenders, they kind of shut tight, but no were near close to being lined up. Going to throw the truck at my buddy the body man that syes it is easy to do and have him do it right

I need this out of my shop so I can pull the doner motor out of a truck and install in the blazer before May 27 to go wheeling. It never ends it never ends
