All,
My Dealer quoted me $32/side for these - WTF? Is that the best deal? I doubt it.....
What are some alternatives? If you have used aftermarket what brands are good quality?

Thanks,

I bought some for my old Ford from JC Whitney. I think it was $12 for a pair. They seemed to be quality parts

Check out the section with the "Help!" brand stuff at your local parts store. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

How do you change them anyways? I always thought that there must be a nut on the inside of the metal panel that would fall into "never never land" if you turned the striker all the way out. /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif

Cheap and easy to get at NAPA or Pepgirls. Mostly in the Help section. They will be labelled for GM trucks. To remove the old ones, stick a Torx head socket in there, unscrew it and screw the new one in. Easy. Unless it's like my truck and the weld in nut is toast...

Hmm, I see.

But if I go to change them, and that nut falls, I'm gonna /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif just kidding dude! I check er out on my old rust bucket body that melting away in the grove first though.

I need to change the drivers side but the Torx head is shot. How do I remove it now ? Can I use a pair of pliers any ideas.

Dan..

Vise grips, pipe wrench or a great big pair of Channel-locks

And if those don't work grind two flat spots on it so you can get a wrench on it. OR weld a dang nut on the end and start turning- maybe use a lil PB Blaster if it acts stubborn.
