Hi All,

I have recently replaced the rockers, rocker boxes and some floor sections in my 72 GMC Jimmy. Before the fixed most stuff lined up pretty good but with the rust it was hard to tell exactly.

Now that I have all new metal it looks amazing and everything lines up perfectly except the gap between the door and the windshield frame towards the top of the door.

A friend with lots of experience suggested that the Jimmy's & Blazers windshield frame could sag over the years, is that possible? If so what are my options? some suggestions he had were...

1. Make a relief cut at the A Pillar and use a port a power to push the cab forward

2. Make a cut in the windshield frame and trim to make the desired gap

I am not sure I like either idea, anyone else have any suggestions?

Thanks

It's done with shims at the body mounts. Try a search, there are quite a few photos and explanations available.

The only way it won't work is if the repairs weren't done with door braces and the body sagged. You'll get some of the gaps right, but you'll never get ALL of them right.

Well crap, I did not use any braces, that said I only cut small sections at a time so with any luck I wont have a problem with deformation. I am about to do all new body mounts and core support bushings so I will be sure to pay attention to where i put the shims.
