ok, i have seen several k5s that have rubber on the door itself. i know the standard door seal that goes on the cab for the whole parimeter of the door opening. but on two trucks, i have seen a rubber strip ON THE DOOR that starts from just above the door latch running up and around to about where the front fender starts, it also has a metal thingy on each end.
the thing is, i have never seen this part on any other truck or in any of the restoration catalogs, LMC, chevy duty, year one, cheyenne pickup, classic trucks...etc....execpt one, 'harmons restoration catalog' but they didnt have a picture. and they described it as 'door weatherstripping (on door)'....any information would be much appreciated....TIA

Hey bud

I'm sitting here looking at the Fall 2000 LMC Truck catalog and what your are describing looks like what they call Drip Rail Molding...if you have that catalog, it's on pages 42 and 43.

If I read your post right, GM never made such an animal, I don't think. I'm curious as to what Harmon's says it is.

I've got those rubber strips on my doors, metal tabs on either end. If GM didn't make 'em I don't know who did because they were on my truck when I got it.

My 78 doesn't have it either. As far as replacing weatherstripping..I've done my doors and it's really easy..about a 15 minute job for both doors.

Go Through It or Go Over It....Going around is NOT an option.
