Yep. Someone here or over at www.67-72chevytrucks.com has a post about the specs of where to cut and I think a reinforcement that should be used.

Yep, it's what they did at the factory.

I have some very good 69 pickup doors that I am going to convert.

that is what I did. Look for the doors with the screw below the wing window.
