I'm talking about steering wheels here! So if you can get your mind out of the gutter? Dose the diameter of your steering wheel really mater? I am currently rebuilding my steering from top to bottom and adding hydro assist. The only hting i haven't replaced was my steering wheel which i have long wanted too!! I currently have a stock wheel with an approx. diameter of 15" and the one o want to get from grant looks to only come in 13.5" diameter"

What is this going to effect if anything? Dose anyone run a wheel this size? Dose it look funny(like to small)?

here is a link to the one i want

It will quicken your steering ratio and make your truck appear to be more responsive to steering inputs.

:usaflag:

my friend has that steering wheel. it's pretty much a north of the border chain steering wheel. way too small for a fullsize truck, imho

This is the one I have. I like it! I have the red stripe though.

Only thing I can throw in is.... don't get one that has a lot of little places in the spokes for your fingers to get stuck through.....

if you are wheeling off road and bounce up against a rock hard, your wheel may spins and break you fingers if they get stuck in the holes in the spokes...

I have a 10" grant wheel in my buggy and I hate it....a larger diameter wheel will give you more steering leverage also...:waytogo:

something to think about when you lose power steering a larger steering wheel will make it much easier to turn the thing.

I like the grants that are 15" in diameter. Looks more in place on the truck

azcat: Ya i saw those and they are nice!! Just had my heart set on all black. But i don't think i want to go smaller so it looks like i may need to broaden my scope.

Confedneck: When you say way to small, How so? Just don't like how it looks are the handling was terrible in your opinion!

My friend has one that size on his fullsize. Don't remember how it looked it was so long ago but i do remember not liking the steering but i wasn't sure if it was the wheel size or just bad steering on the truck(bad parts/setup)

The smaller the wheel the harder the steering is to turn and just the opposite if the wheel was larger than stock. None of that will really matter though unless you have to turn the wheels with the engine off as blazinzuk said.

I have a smaller wheel in the jimmy and the one nice thing about it is when I am driving I can use the tilt to put it all the way down, and I can see the whole insturment cluster

This statement and the one about hitting rocks are the determining factors. I have the steering wheel you are looking at. My truck drives great on the road and doesn't wonder, so the smaller wheel is kinda nice. I have a bigger wheel in my garage that's for sale, it's a Grant 15", but it has a deep dish. I wasn't comfortable with it, so went to something more flat, but had to go with a smaller diameter to do it.

I only sport 32" tires and no assist. I don't have a problem offroading, but haven't hit to many things that would yank the wheel. Some technical stuff that pulls on the wheel, but hasn't yanked it. With the hydro assist, I would think most everything gets soaked up through the ram. (but I've never had one)

I have bought several vehicles with small steering wheels in them. I have hated them with a passion. They all get replaced with the same thing. An OEM steering wheel from a 1988-1994 Chevrolet pickup. In my opinion, those are the best possible steering wheel you could put in one of these pickups/Blazers/Suburbans/etc.

I ran a 13.5 in my blazer for two years. Its a lot nicer when you're on the go pedal and sawing your wheel back and forth. And previously stated, much easier to see over. But im only 5' 6" so im not sure if that will be a problem. Now I have a wooden grant wheel, even better because I don't get a blister on my palm when im out wheeling.

What kind of wood were you stroking before that gave you blisters. :haha:
