I am trying to understand why the Y06 : RING GEAR, 9.50 IN., SAGINAW, (S.P 0.) is a special order is it because it was a Government Vehicle?

I got my GPS set up in truck today and my speedometer is off by 4 mph at 50 it is 54 and at 60 it is 64 so it is off by 4 all across the board. So that is a new item for fix list. I am going to build a stand for my laptop to use on my cross country trip.

I have checked the codes with GM Helm book just trying to figure some small details.

Pic's of the diff's please...the 9.5" ring gear looks goofy on that build sheet. It'd have to have a SF 14 bolt rear, and i don't know of any 9.5" ring gear front.

Will take in the morning and post.

Mine were on glove box door inside. Then I checked the web and also the GM service manuals to get what they were. I am just wondering if because mine was a government /police truck if that is why the SPO for rear gear.

I know it is a ten bolt but so were the ones on the caprice police packages. They also have the 9.50 IN.

It sure appears to be a regular 10 bolt with 8.5" ring gear. Is there even room for a 9.5" ring gear in that housing? The larger ring gear would also drastically affect pinion design/depth, as well as being awefully close to the inside of the cover. That's assuming it's not touching anywhere else inside the housing.

Theres no way those are 9.5" ring gears...

ummmmInoooknow huhhhhhh

I guess I have to pull cover and check! :dunno:
Heck I don't know that is what the sticker says in glove box vin matches trucks. Anyone else out there have an EX Police Blazer not a M1009.

I will try to back track vehicle through North DakotaDepartment of Transportation and see if I can find any state records of a switch. But it all looks like it has never been touched.
