MOTIVATED TO SELL!!!

:doah:

Why do people think toppers are worth so much?

first gens ya cant. but i did find the second gen half tops while seaching for a first gen one. and they WERE 3-4 k. no idea why but thats what they were asking. i cant remember who sells them though

So where can you get a new top?

I see your point, but regarding the value of the truck, is the topper really worth that much? I know that if my topper was worth 3 grand - exceeding the value of the rest of my truck by about 300% - I would promptly sell it and buy another K5. And then I'd sell that topper and buy another K5, and then sell that topper and buy a bunch of soft tops...

:waytogo:

No, seriously, you're pretty much SOL if you want a brand new factory hardtop. I get that. But insofar as finding another hardtop, all you have to do is search craigslist or the Little Nickel or even eBay, and you'll find them floating around in the $200-$300 range.

Well, the "double wall" is an indicator that it's a first-gen top, which are relatively rare. Two grand rare, no, not IMO. Even with the lift window in great shape -- and I don't think this one was -- you can find them for a few hundred if you're patient.

Even '73-75 tops can go for a chunk of change due to low availability. It's the 76+ half-tops that are everywhere and free or close.

In the end something is worth only what someone will pay for it, and Craigslist is full of people who haven't figured that out.
