I'm about to (hopefully) get my doubler kit and have some questions.

I want to build a cross member like this one that "bark beetle" on pirate built.

I also need to push my rear axle back a few inches and fix my pinion angle, so I figure I might as well 4 link the rear. IF I attempt to use that cross member as a spot to mount my links how thick should the material be? Or in general, how thick should the material I use be for doing fab work like that?

I would use mostly 3/16 on the outside braces but 1/4 on main member. These pics seem a little over done in my opinion.

Triangles are stronger than squares.

The smarter you are about the design, the thinner you can make the materials. Most guys who don't want to study where the actual loads will be, just build everything out of thick plate and hope for the best.
