Doubler crossmember request (again)

Ok, well, then what is everyone using to mount their Doubler then?

Is everyone using fabbed crossmembers?

Thats what I did. If you use a factory crossmember then it would have to be modified to clear the front shaft in most cases. The rear mount would have to be fabbed up anyways so why not make a complete new one the way you want it. I made mine as high as I could make it with my case clocked up 2". Now I wish I would have done more and its not even done yet. Ohh well here it is.

lmao

Don't hold your breath! Just kidding. Mabey if I decide to make another then I may sell this one. Its not that hard to build one yourself.

I'm sure once I get the welding basics down and some practice it won't be that difficult, I've just got alot occupying my time right now. I just scored a 205 case for practically nothing and in time I'll collect the parts I need for the doubler , and the skills to get it together and going.

your x-member looks solid tho, good work

I have been trying to figure out why my crossmember looks like it hangs down lower than most I have seen? I looked at a K5 this weekend and the frame is straight. Mine curves up a lot as it goes back so I guess my clearance is not as bad as it looks. Good, I don't want to have to make another.

When i had the doubler in a truck it was the same thing, the frame curves up right at the 205, nothing to worry about. on a side note, i really like how the frame is straight on a k5.

mmmmm,beer

Do you think you need the stock style mounts since you have bushing mounts to the frame?? I am putting in comp style motor mounts and thinking of mounting the crossmembers like yours but hard mounting the cases to the crossmember. My question is would that be too rigid???

Here is what I eneded up with after this weekend. I still need to build the mounts for the skid plate.
